Southern Denmark University (SDU), Denmark

University of Southern Denmark (SDU) has two strong research groups entered into the KnowSeas consortium. The Department of Environmental and Business Economics has a strong profile within Environmental and
Resource Economics. The staff of 24 includes 10 environmental and resource economists mostly interested in fishery and fisheries-related topics. The Institute of Biology has a strong profile in marine research and the Ecology group has particular experience in the biogeochemical cycling of elements (C, N, S, P, Fe), in sediment microbial ecology, and fate of organic matter and nutrients in eutrophic and organic enriched marine ecosystems.  17 scientists are employed at the institute.

Guardians of the Oceans documentary
This short documentary by Futuris gives a glimpse into how researchers on several European marine projects are trying to assess the oceans of tomorrow.  It considers overfishing, pollution, coastal degradation and other issues relevant to the KnowSeas project.
