University of Bergen (UiB), Norway

The University of Bergen (UiB) consists of 6 faculties with a total of 16,000 students, 3000 faculty and staff and 1100 PhD students. The University of Bergen is a research university with a high international profile that is
committed to academic and research  xcellence and has also actively participated in the former EU Framework Programmes both involving the University as partner and coordinator. In the Fifth Framework Programme UiB participated in about 100 contracts many of which  oordinated by UiB, including 3 Research Infrastructures and 12 Marie Curie Research training sites giving access for European researchers and doctoral students. UiB is also
participating in FP6 as well, participating in about 50 contracts including the coordination of 4 integrated projects, 2 STREPs and 1 RTN.

Guardians of the Oceans documentary
This short documentary by Futuris gives a glimpse into how researchers on several European marine projects are trying to assess the oceans of tomorrow.  It considers overfishing, pollution, coastal degradation and other issues relevant to the KnowSeas project.
