The Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) has been one of the longest funded UK Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) designated social science research centre addressing environmental issues, it has 24 members of staff (research and administrative). Created in 1991, CSERGE is dedicated to undertaking and communicating original, policy-relevant research on a range of issues, using an approach that integrates the natural and social sciences.

Guardians of the Oceans documentary
This short documentary by Futuris gives a glimpse into how researchers on several European marine projects are trying to assess the oceans of tomorrow.  It considers overfishing, pollution, coastal degradation and other issues relevant to the KnowSeas project.
